What kind of film opening is more appealing to you?

  • Classic opening (black background, with titles; audience doesn’t receive any information about the plot)

  • Establishing shot opening (establishing shots; no real action in the shots; in the very beginning of the story)

  • Voice-over opening (narrator is telling about the background; a scene is shown to the audience; a short conclusion about the plot)

  • Non-linear narrative opening (the audience is “thrown” into the scene; middle or end of the story; goes back to the beginning afterwards)

  • Direct address opening (a character is speaking to the audience; tells the audience what happened so far; character looks into the camera)

  • Linear narrative opening (starts right at the beginning of the story; includes character establishing shots; works its way through)

  • Animated opening (usually drawn; narrator is talking about the story)

  • Montage opening (different movie sequences layered, jump cuts; the audience has got no information about the plot)

  • Collage opening (symbols, photographs, newspaper articles)

  • Heavy editing opening (includes pictures, paintings, writing, text, music etc.; introduces the story)

Sound recreation

Here, I recreated the sound for all the scences. The sound is diegetic, because it has an on screen source. The cars, bus and walking on lieves are recordded by me. The birds and insects sounds were all gathered off the internet.

Budget

The Budget of this film-opening includes technical and practical equipment, taxi/bus costs (traveling from a location to another), and software.

Script

The narrative part of script was done by Ema, because I wanted this part to be told exactly how it is seen from her, as an actual graffiti artist.

Moodboard

When we started making this film I could say I had no idea what grafitti was about and what kind of culture it represented, so I saw it a challenge. Research had to be done. Ema (my group and class coulege) showed my films that talked about grafitti. I looked in Forums (EX. Reddit) that talked about this subjects.

After understanding the basics of grafitti culture, Ema and I created a moodboard from an grafitti artist prespective. We want our film-opening to take the viewer into the Character's world.

Finding The Perfect Locations

Finding the location could not have been realizable with out Ema because she is part of this culture and knows the perfect places that are most representative for our ideas. Also, I am new in this city and I can say that all the placeless that will be used in the film were not known to me before.

Characters & Actors

The two characters in our film are going to be Ema Borz and Andra Borz (her sister).  Ema Borz (Wesite -Tag/Street name) is part of this culture and understands it. She is in love with graffiti and her experience on the "streets" can be seen in her works and in her ideas that will be put in this film-opening We had chosen her Sister because she is also one very familiar with this "world".
